El cristo
Yesterday afternoon I went with a friend, Jose to the statue at the top of the hill in San Juan. It is a huge statue of El Cristo that overlooks the city of San Juan. One of the inclines was so steep I almost fell backwards. Haha.
Last night I learned how to make the traditional Nicaraguan dish, Indio Viejo. It is a mixture of natural corn meal, meat and vegetables. It was great but super...
Suave.
Today was my third day of Spanish classes. Now I remember why I took a year off of school. They aren´t awful, but I hate being in a mandatory lesson where you are constantly told you are wrong and then you have homework for the night. Blek. No thanks. I am staying with the family that runs the school and they feed me enough food for an entire village. The food is AMAZING, but if I don´t gain 25...
San Juan del Sur
Malpais, Santa Theresa was amazing! I had such a great time. The beaches are beautiful and the town is just filled with surfers. I met a lot of great people at my hostel, but unfortunately left this morning to take the day trip up to Nicaragua! Crossing the boarder was one of the most stressful things I’ve experienced on this trip so far, and it also made me realize how much my Spanish...
Malpais
Jaco wasn´t my favorite place, but the coolest part was that there were so many macaws that just hung out in the trees near the beach. They are so beautiful, you just want to watch them fly around. I took a boat from Jaco to Montezuma this morning. I was hoping to see dolphins in the gulf on the way over, but was unlucky. We did see a few sea turtles though! I got a ride to Malpais and will be...
Jaco
Yesterday I arrived in Jaco. It is a small touristy beach town, but the beach is awful. It is covered with pebbles and debris, but I guess it is good for surfing. I am staying out of the sun as much as possible until my horrible sunburn goes away, so I’ve been just entertaining myself in shops and cafes. Tomorrow I will take a boat from Jaco to Montezuma, which is across the Golfo de Nicoya...
Manuel Antonio
I am staying in a hostel up the road from Quepos in the town of Manuel Antonio. It is a short bus ride to the town and beach area which is also where Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio is. I took a guided tour through the park and it was awesome. I saw mama and baby sloths, white face monkeys, Jesus Christ lizards, tucans, iguanas, howler monkeys, and other smaller native bugs. My tour guide would...
Quepos
Uvita, Costa Rica: beautiful waterfalls that I bathed in (also my only form of a shower since I left Arizona), beautiful coastline. The drive to Uvita was beautiful, but I wasn’t much of a fan of the place I was staying…so adios! I bused up to Quepos, CR this morning. Quepos is also beautiful but it is a rainy, dreary day unfortunately. Walk only a couple hundred yards from my hostel...
Uvita.
Headed to Costa Rica this morning. Arrival time: 9:40pm.
My first ass-busting day on the snowboard: complete!
